TheWSSU Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning supports faculty in their quest for knowledge, whether for traditional modes of learning delivery or for electronic delivery. We provide financial support for conference attendance that is designed to increase teaching and learning skills. We teach classes, do one on one coaching, host roundtables, and facilitate action research. Faculty are our reason for being!

Center for Excellence In Teaching and Learning (CETL) at Winston-Salem State University

One of the best things happening in education today is collaboration. Really, for years teachers and college professors have planned their lessons (or their lectures), greeted the students upon their arrival and literally closed the doors to the rest of the world.

Over the last decade or so, teachers and professors have decided to come out and see what the rest of the learning community is doing, and to ask others what they think about one’s own practice. Imagine that! Yes, we actually have come a long way. Faculty members are sitting together and sharing ideas and notes. They are planning and writing together. They are developing strategy for addressing the many needs of today’s students. They are learning new technologies, side by side and over each other’s shoulders. They are finding that some of the things they have postponed learning, or even dreaded, are not so difficult afterall—in fact, many are asking themselves why they waited so long to adopt innovations that are more efficient and more learner-centered.
