Description: Students are introduced to management and technology issues involved in the effective operation electronic businesses. Primary focus is placed on Business models utilized in planning and implementing eCommerce sites, market opportunity analysis, web site development process and human, capital and technical resources needed to manage these sites. Rationale: Electronic commerce has become an essential support function for businesses and a source of additional revenue for others. These opportunities are motivating firms to increase their focus on electronic commerce. Additionally, ecommerce provides firms with the opportunity to reach dispersed customer base and to communicate with their customers on an anytime, anyplace basis.
