Educational Background: Dr. Hassan received his Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana State University, Master of Science degree  from Eastern Washington University, Doctor of Medicine, M.D. degree from Uniremhos Medical School, and  Ph.D. degree in Molecular Biology/ Microbiology from University of North Texas. Dr. Hassan completed his postdoctoral training Fellowship at University of Texas MD -Anderson Cancer Center in Houston Texas. Dr. Hassan is a Diplomate Board Certified Physician in Pain Management from The American Academy of Pain Management. Dr. Hassan worked for three years as a Medical Director Physician in private medical practice of Anesthesia and Pain Management Clinic in Houston, Texas.

Teaching Experience:  Dr. Hassan has 7 years teaching experience at the University of North Texas, Angelina College,  Stephen F. Austin State University and Winston-Salem State University. He taught Anatomy & Physiology, Medical Microbiology, General Microbiology, Medical Parasitology. Medical Bacteriology, General Biology, and Hematology & Coagulation courses for Premed students, Nursing students, Pre-Professional Students, Biology major, and C.L.S. Students.

 

 

Administrative Experience: Dr. Hassan served as Chair (Department Head) and Program Director for the Clinical Laboratory Science department from June 2006- March 2007. Dr. Hassan is  NAACLS approved Program Director (National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences) at WSSU which received NAACLS re-accreditation for seven years ( Maximum Award) in October 2006 till 2013.

 

Research Interest : Dr. Hassan research interest is Clinical Microbiology / Infectious Diseases with emphasis in anti-microbial drug resistance in both pathogenic bacterial and Fungal microorganisms in Immunocompromised host such as cancer, HIV patients,  patients on long term Steroids, or long term antibiotics users. Dr. Hassan conduct his research in collaboration with the team of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases Physicians at  University of Texas MD-Anderson Cancer Center in Houston Texas and  with other collaborators in the field of Clinical Medicine, Biological Sciences, and Allied Health Sciences.
