Sathasivam Mathiyalakan is an Associate Professor of MIS at Winston Salem State University, Winston Salem, NC. He earned a PhD in Business Administration from the University of Kentucky, a MBA from the Asian Institute of Management, Philippines, and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka. In 2011, Dr. Mathiyalakan was a participant of the WSSU – CIEE Faculty Development Seminar in China. At Winston Salem State University, Dr. Mathiyalakan teaches MIS and Healthcare Informatics courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. His research focuses on the use of Information Technology in Education and Workforce Development and on understanding Facebook use by minority students. His research articles have appeared in several journal including IEEE Transactions of Systems, Man, & Cybernetics, European Journal of Operations Research, and Decision Support Systems.
He serves on
the editorial review board of several journals including

International Journal of Information & Decision Sciences,
International Journal of Data Analysis Techniques and Strategies,
International Journal of Information Systems in the Service Sector, and
