WSSU Seal with Athena Holding Torch

 

Athena is the Greek goddess of wisdom, skilled crafts, and defensive war.  Like Hera, she hates the Trojans because Paris insulted her when he gave the golden apple to Aphrodite.  As the goddess of wisdom, Athena appears on many university seals, including the seal of Winston-Salem State University!
